Community Involvement
The economic development vision of the City of District Heights is to create a uniform, visually-pleasing, pedestrian-friendly business district that reflects the true identity of the community and fosters economic prosperity. The City is in the first stage of implementing a Façade Restoration and Infrastructure Improvement program and is in the need of citizen input on the planning of this project and future economic development activities.
The most important part of community planning is citizen participation. The City would like to encourage all citizens of the community to be a part of planning for the City's economic future. The City's goal for 2009 is to engage citizen participation into planning for the community. The City would like to host a variety of public meetings and workshops for this year and we encourage all residents and interest groups to participate. Your input is very valuable to creating a commercial revitalization plan that addresses the needs of the community.
The residents of District Heights hold the power to make a difference in our community!
We will continue to update the community on the status of the Façade Restoration and Infrastructure Improvement program, which include storefront and infrastructure improvements of the City's Commercial Business District, which consist of the 6000 to 6300 Block of Marlboro Pike. If you have anything to share about possible revitalization ideas and/or would like to be a part of our Economic development committee, please call Samantha Archibald at 301-336-1402.
