Tree Maintenance
The Public Works Department will handle tree trimming and removal as needed. However, this only applies to trees that are on City property. If there is a situation that our department cannot handle, we have established a rapport with contractors that will be able to complete the task. If you are in need of tree removal or trimming please call (301) 336-7417.
Mosquito Control
The Public Works Department works with Prince George’s County on an annual basis to control the amount of mosquitoes in the community. Mosquitos serve as a hinderance and potential health hazard to our community. Between June 11 and running through September 27, every Wednesday the county will use various methods to help with the issue of mosquito control. If you have any concerns please contact the Maryland Department of Agriculture Mosquito Control Section at (301) 927-8357.
Recycle Oil and Antifreeze
The Public Works Department accepts used oil and antifreeze. Residents may bring the recyclable oil and antifreeze to the rear of the Municipal Building between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM, Monday through Friday. All fluids must be in a secured container.
Grass Clippings
Grass clippings will be picked up on Mondays by Bates Trucking and Trash Removal. All grass clippings and leaves must be bagged in a paper bag and placed curbside.
Snow Removal
In the event of snow, we would advise our residents to wait before shoveling snow from their driveways and vehicles. The Public Works Department must plow the streets and open up all entrances into the City. Residents with driveways can help the Public Works Department Staff by parking their automobiles in their driveway instead of on the street.
Reminder
Please keep in mind that those who place limbs on streets, medians, and alleys are subject to $1,000 fine. Limbs are scheduled to be picked up on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
