Residents are welcome to recess and free play in the gymnasium. It’s  first come first serve on the basketball courts. No team practices or league play during this time.

Exercise with a chair has never been so much fun. Come workout while sitting down, working your entire body head to toe. Runelle Kojack Gulliam teaches an exciting fun energetic class twice a week.

Taking Off the Pounds Successfully (TOPS)

Mondays 6:45 p.m -8:15pm

TOPS is a weight loss support group that doesn’t promote one specific diet plan. Instead, its purpose is to encourage members to seek the advice of their physicians to obtain a diet tailored specifically to their physical needs. TOPS discourages fad diets, weight loss pills and fast weight loss plans and instead encourages a balanced diet that includes a regular exercise regimen.

Line Dance ($3.00)

Tuesdays 1:00pm -2:30pm

Thursdays 10:30 am -12:00pm

Hand Dance ($5.00)

Monday-Friday 7:00pm- 8:30pm

Hand Dance has resurfaced in the Washington dance community.

Tang Soo Do Karate($2.00)

Tuesday 7:30 pm -9:00pm

Thursday 7:30 pm – 9:00pm

Learn practical application of Korean Marital Arts. Learn respect, stop bullies, build confidence and get a free trial lesson. All classes are taught by Grand Master Carlos Randall.

Zumba ($5.00)

Tuesday 6:30 pm -7:30 pm.

Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba’s choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo and martial arts. Squats and lunges are also included.

 

Computer Class

Every Saturday 10am-12noon

Crocheting

Mondays 10:00 am -12:00 pm.

Come join us. We create beautiful art through the process of crocheting.

Garden Club

Every 2nd Monday of each month

Members of the Garden Club grow our world and green our communities. Our members create a powerful voice and expansive network for advancing common interests.

Male Mentoring

Mondays & Fridays 6:30pm -8:00pm

Goal setting, conflict resolution, workshops, group activities, entrepreneurship, and field trips are just some of things involved within the group. Everyone makes mistakes, the key is to learn from and share new found knowledge.

Boxing (Free)

Monday -Friday 6:00pm- 8:00pm

Boxing is designed to give residents an alternative get away and a chance to learn the sweet science of the sport.

Fitness Center

Monday-Friday 9:15 -8:45pm

For people who want to come in and workout at their own rate, the fitness center is the place for you. For District Heights adults 18-54, the fee is $25 for 3 months. For non-District Heights adults 18-54, the fee is $50 for 3 months. For Seniors 55 years or older, the membership is free.

  • NLC Service Line Warranty Program

    The City of District Heights is notifying residents of a program provided through the National Leauge of Cities (NLC) Service Line Warranty Program administered by Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA). This program offers a warranty to homeowners that covers repairs or replacements of the outside water line that runs from the point of utility responsibility to the home. Property owners are accountable for these repairs, not the utility.
