Mr. Johnathan Medlock, a father and servant leader, has worked for the federal government for more than 20 years. His professional career began in high school when he was recruited to join a program that trained youth to become change agents in their community.  His continued and unwavering work as a public servant, has spanned several branches of the government, including the Department of Navy (DoN) and the Department of Defense (DoD).  During his tenure with the DoN he was certified as a Navel Instructor and received several awards including the Secretary of Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation.  Currently at the DoD, Mr. Medlock serves as a valuable member of our nations National Security Team.

Mr. Medlock is committed to serving his community as evident by his involvement with organizations such as the Rachel’s Women’s Center, where he offered his support for women who experienced domestic violence. Additionally, Mr. Medlock was also a member and leader in the National Black United Front organization where he planned and lead a myriad of community programs including the monthly, “Feed the Hood Program”, Ajamu Youth Investment Group, and the Summer Youth Academy. Currently, Mr. Medlock serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Braveheart Entrepreneurial Youth Camp (BEYC). BEYC is a nonprofit organization, which was born out of a strong desire and essential need to support and promote the benefits of youth entrepreneurship education. Furthermore, Mr. Medlock continues to volunteer with the District Heights Elementary mentoring program where for the last five years he has served as a mentor to young African-American boys in need of male role models. He is a justice rights advocate, community organizer, actor, and public speaker within the community he serves.

A graduate of Valdosta State University, Brenau University, and Georgia Military College, Mr. Medlock is wholeheartedly committed to working collaboratively to build strong communities.  It is with this fervor that he is dedicated to rolling up his sleeves to bring about solutions that ensure a brighter future for our seniors, youth and the entire District Heights community.
