Commissioner Pamela Janifer

Commissioner Pamela Janifer, Ward II – Liaison for Recreation, Parks and Culture Department


Pamela Janifer is a native Washingtonian and attended primary and middle schools in the District of Columbia Public School System before moving to Prince George’s County where she graduated from Suitland High School. She went on to attend Bowie University and Towson University before moving to the City of District Heights. Commissioner Janifer has been a resident of Prince George’s County for over 40 years, and is celebrating 18 years as a resident of the City of District Heights.

Commissioner Janifer has over 35 years of Federal Government service and has served in various capacities at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Labor. She is currently employed at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and works as a program analyst in the Office of Congressional Affairs, where she provides technical advice and expertise to Members of Congress and their staff.

Commissioner Janifer has engaged in a number of community service activities, particularly those involving the youth. She’s a former member of the District Heights Youth Empowerment Program and volunteered her time to teach culinary classes to youth of all ages. Her love for cooking, has allowed her to volunteer her time to align with many community and federal organization initiatives.

Commissioner Janifer is a proud U.S. Navy Mom to one daughter; she is the daughter to a United States Marine Corps (USMC) veteran, and engaged to a USMC retired veteran. Commissioner Janifer is grateful for the opportunity to serve the residents of the City of District Heights, and will continue to build on successes made and move our City to new Heights.

  • NLC Service Line Warranty Program

    The City of District Heights is notifying residents of a program provided through the National Leauge of Cities (NLC) Service Line Warranty Program administered by Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA). This program offers a warranty to homeowners that covers repairs or replacements of the outside water line that runs from the point of utility responsibility to the home. Property owners are accountable for these repairs, not the utility.
