Green Jobs in District Heights -

The City's new green program will help in providing new "green jobs" in both the City and Prince George's County. Our new leader, President Barack Obama , in March, announced more than $20 billion for investment in a cleaner, greener economy, including $500 million for green job training. This investment will help build jobs for the middle class. Promoting green jobs in District Heights will only help to build the local economy, but also help residents save money on their energy bills, as well as help to decrease the gas emissions in the environment.

What is a "Green collar" Job?

A "green-collar" job is in essence a blue-collar job that has been upgraded to address the environmental challenges of our country," said Lucy Blake, chief executive of the Apollo Alliance (New York Times, March 2008)

District Heights is looking for local Plumbers, Electricians and general MHIC contractors who will provide "green" home improvement upgrades. We are also looking to build working relationships with Local Weatherization Agencies (LWA) and CNOs. Please contact Samantha Archibald, archibalds@districtheights.org or Shantay Dabney, dabneys@districtheights.org and 301-336-1402
