Project Location  

The program will focus on the targeted areas, 6000-6400 blocks of District Heights’ Commercial Business District (CBD).  The City of District Heights’ Commercial Business District consists of four and a quarter blocks (6000-6400) of small strip commercial shopping centers. Located along Marlboro Pike, the more than 50 year old CBD is in dire need of major restoration. The deteriorating site conditions and limited parking have had an adverse affect on the economic activity of the current businesses of the commercial corridor. According to the 1985 Suitland-District Heights Comprehensive Plan, the City’s commercial area, ranked lowest of all the commercial blocks in the Suitland-District Heights planning area, specifically in the areas of poor parking conditions, façade treatment and exterior environment. Since 1985, little improvements have been made to the commercial area.
