NOTICE REGARDING RESPONSE TIMES FOR REQUESTS RECEIVED UNDER THE MARYLAND PUBLIC INFORMATION ACT

This notice is given by Dr. Sharlá M. Crutchfield, City Manager and City Clerk, of the City of District Heights, Maryland, acting pursuant to the Proclamation of Governor Lawrence J. Hogan, Jr. (the “Governor”) dated March 9, 2021, entitled “Amending and Restating the Order of June 19, 2020, Extending Certain Licenses, Permits, Registrations, and Other Governmental Authorizations, and Authorizing Suspension of Legal Time Requirements,” (the “Order”) under which the governor lifted the timeframe suspensions that were previously put in place. 

Pursuant to the Order, the City is reinstating the legal time requirements imposed upon it by Maryland Code, § 4-203 of the General Provisions Article, more commonly referred to as “Maryland Public Information Act,” which were previously suspended.  The suspension of response times for requests received under the Maryland Public Information Act will be lifted June 30, 2021.  After that date, the City will be required to respond to requests made under the Maryland Public Information Act within the periods established therein.  See Md. Code Ann., General Provisions § 4-203(b)(1).

    The City of District Heights is notifying residents of a program provided through the National Leauge of Cities (NLC) Service Line Warranty Program administered by Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA). This program offers a warranty to homeowners that covers repairs or replacements of the outside water line that runs from the point of utility responsibility to the home.
