Snow Removal

As a department, we understand the importance of removing snow and ice from our city streets. Every October, we service our snowplows so they are ready to hit the streets at a moment’s notice. We monitor the weather channels on a daily basis, and in the event of a snow storm, the crew is placed on 24 hour alert.

In the case of a snowstorm, the Public Works Department’s main goal is to ensure the safety of our residents. Each member of our staff has been trained to effectively remove snow and ice. Main streets such as Kipling Parkway, Gateway Boulevard, and District Heights Parkway are usually the first ones cleared. These streets take precedence because they are our main entrances into our city. The city’s secondary streets are cleared shortly thereafter.

In the event of snow, we would advise our residents to wait before shoveling snow from their driveways and vehicles. The Public Works Department must plow the streets and open up all entrances into the City. Residents with driveways can help the Public Works Department Staff by parking their automobiles in their driveway instead of on the street.
