Woodland Springs Shooting- May 3, 2024

On May 3, 2024, at around 3:30 pm, District Heights police officers (DHPD) responded to the 6800 block of Atwood Street for a reported shooting.  

DHPD has since learned that an undisclosed number of suspects in a black Hyundai vehicle opened fire on an adult male victim, causing injury to his lower extremities. This current incident appears to be connected with a non-contact shooting earlier this week. 

The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition. An apartment building and at least two unoccupied parked cars were damaged by the gunfire.  

At this time, we do not believe there is any ongoing public safety threat to the general population.
