NIXLE Alerts

The City of District Heights and the District Heights Police Department have developed a partnership with NIXLE.  NIXLE is a Community Information Service that is dedicated to helping people stay connected with the information that is most important to them and their family.

The District Heights Police Department believes that an informed and engaged community is a strong community. We strive to provide a secure and collaborative platform that brings residents, public safety, and businesses together.

Our residents and business partners may sign up by text or e-mail to receive up to the minute emergency, crime and traffic alerts, missing persons information, community outreach, as well as other pertinent weather related information affecting our community.

NIXLE allows an administrator(s) to send a message to hundreds or hundreds of thousands of people within minutes – without having to call anyone.  Messages can be initiated from anywhere via web or phone, and can be sent in voice and text formats.

Residents and businesses located in the City of District Heights may sign-up to receive alerts through our system.  Crimes, emergencies, and other information will be sent to you.

How to Sign Up

Residents may simply use their cell phone; in the “TO” box, type 888777, and in the “MESSAGE” box, type DHPD, then hit send. This simple step will automatically sign you up to receive alerts on your cell phone. After you receive a “thank you for signing up” message, add your zip code, 20747, in the message box and then hit send.

This partnership with NIXLE is another Community Policing initiative aimed at maintaining a connection with our community.  The District Heights Police Department looks forward to your participation in this endeavor.

Residents may get assistance in signing up by calling (301) 336-1400, or by email.
